Abram has just conquered the kings in most of his immediate surroundings. Ironically, he wouldn’t have even gotten involved if not for Lot being captured. Even so, he’s now loaded, powerful … and childless. God promises to fix this. (I felt a little sorry for Eliezer of Damascus. Just missed an inheritance by a hair!) He says Abram will have as many children as there are stars in the sky. More importantly, Abram believed him. He offers sacrifices to God to confirm their pact. Abram even chases vultures away to protect his part of the bargain. Then he slept. And what a crazy dream he had!
