Bible studies for writers

Bible studies for writers | Leviticus 22

What’s your favorite holiday? I have a hard time choosing between Fourth of July and Thanksgiving. Of course, my enjoyment of both of those holidays depends greatly on where I am when they roll around. If I’m in my hometown and/or surrounded by family, I enjoy those holidays immensely. I “celebrate with joy before the Lord” but not for seven days, like God insisted the Israelites do in the Festival of Unleavened Bread and the Festival of Shelters. This Festival of Shelters is a hoot of a holiday, too! The Israelites must go on a camping trip for a week to celebrate with joy before the Lord. No problem, and thank you, Lord. I love how God commands us to celebrate, and I love how some of the remnants (though minuscule in some cases) of the festivals of old can still be seen in our festivals today. I’m thinking particularly about the food and family aspects – preparing and eating tasty meats and breads as community while celebrating our unity. I love gathering with family and hem-hawing about memories and updates, and I love that God seemed to love it too.

Writing prompt: celebrate good times, c’mon!

Write about a celebration that brought you closer to someone.
