Bible studies for writers

Bible studies for writers | Leviticus 24

Whoa, Nellie! Anyone who has ever watched or read “The Handmaid’s Tale” will recognize that this chapter depicts a few scenes from that series. I was watching a trailer for a Master Class taught by the book’s author, Margaret Atwood, and in the trailer she said every weird event and ritual in the series is based on an actual event that occurred in the past. This is one such event. This is also an event I’ll have to put on my list of things I want to discuss with Jesus. It seems harsh to make community members kill one of their own. I just got off the phone with one of my hometown friends, a redneck rebel through and through. Even on the phone just now he said some boneheaded hillbilly stuff that would never fly in a public crowd, but could I stone him to death for it? No. Thank you, Jesus, once again for reminding me how precious the blood you spilled for us is.

Writing prompt: to stone or not to stone

I’m not going to lie, there are some people in this world I wouldn’t mind throwing rocks at, but if it came down to doing it until their deaths, I wouldn’t feel the same way. Write about today’s chapter and your opinion of it.
