God warns the Israelites over and over again that they must not be tempted by the riches in the land they are going. Wow. It must have been quite a place. Not only were the homes ready-made, but they and the people in them were decked out in silver and gold! Many of the idol statues probably were made of precious metals and gems also. This booty could go a long way in the future. God sees the danger and really emphasizes to the Israelites that they must not be tempted.
