Bible studies for writers | 2 Chronicles 26

King Uzziah gives me all the feels, even the gross leprosy ones. I had a feeling he was going to be a good king right from the get-go when we learned that he reigned for more than 50 years. If you’ve been reading along with us so far, you’ll know that it was rare (and still is actually) for a king to reign for this amount of time. And most kings who get to reign that long get to do so because people like them … and nobody plots to kill them … and God doesn’t have them overthrown in one way or another. My heart just ached for Uzziah in the last section. Can you imagine his panic when he realized what he’d done? His humility in separating himself and handing the kingdom over to his son shows what kind of man he was. Yeah, he had a slip-up, but compared to some of the slip-ups of past kings, Uzziah sounds pretty honorable.

Writing prompt: Uzziah

Write about Uzziah’s character, or alternatively, write about a time you messed up big time and had to humble yourself to a point of isolation.
