Bible studies for writers | Job 28

I know I’m supposed to be concentrating on Job’s philosophy today and how it points to an understanding and acceptance of God by faith, but I can’t get over how much mining and refining was going on even in Job’s day and age. You know, us present-day Earthlings consider ourselves the cream of the crop when it comes to technological advances. But in truth, all the things that are going on around us actually have been going on since the dawn of time. Look at Job’s references:

They know where to dig iron from the earth … and smelt copper from rock … sink mine shafts … swing on ropes … dam up streams. The list is incredible. And job is saying that even in his time, through all these methods, no one can just “dig up” wisdom. And it’s the same today. God is wisdom, and fearing Him is wise. But that’s just a start. You have to ask God for wisdom, and if you don’t, no silver or gold or lapis lazuli will help you get it.
