The Sons of Korah (again, not the Australian rock band) can pen a beat,huh? Just kidding. I found these words to be super horrible song lyrics. They probably, however, could be turned into a tear-jerking country tune if one had a hankering to do so. That will not be me, but sometimes the best songs are written out of sadness, and this psalm could have gone straight to number one. According to the notes in my Bible, Psalms 42 and 43 are published as one psalm in many Hebrew manuscripts, and you can see why when you get to the last verse. While each stanza in both Psalms 42 and 43 wreak of tragedy, the main “chorus,” if you will, turns our eyes to God. That’s a good song to sing any day.

Sum it up:

Good grief, God! Save me, would you???
Why do you let me just wander around
Not knowing what will happen next.
It doesn’t matter what happens next, actually,
Because all my trust is in you.
Where you lead me, I will go.

So, what am I so worried about?
Why do I get so sad sometimes?
I will lift my eyes to the One Who Knows
And give Him the praise
For His saving grace.
