It’s so glorious to feel like you’re on top of the world. And I’m 100 percent sure that God loves to see us in full happiness mode, especially when we’re celebrating with Him and because of Him. Think about how the Israelites must have felt when they sang this song, particularly when they were getting to live in this very moment. Oh, the joy! Oh, the happiness! Oh, the pressure to stay humble and give Jesus every last drop of credit for allowing your joy to flourish in the first place! That’s where our happiness goes wrong sometimes. We get to thinking that we’re on top of the world and that we can do no wrong, so we forget why and how we got to our happy places in the first place, and sometimes, we are reminded in ways that send us through some valleys, where we must start climbing back up that ol’ mountain to find that great happiness again. Life. It’s funny, huh?
Sum it up:
God, I want to give you all the glory
For every happy moment in my life,
Especially this one,
As we sit on top of the world,
Adored and feared by everyone.
But we remember the roads that led us here,
The roads paved in others’ blood, sweat and tears,
The roads we stand on now, honoring You,
The God who walks with us always,
Down all the roads, which have no end.
Writing prompt: today’s mode
Are you in full happiness mode today? Or are you walking through a valley? Maybe you’re somewhere in between. Wherever you are, write about the road that got you there.
