Bible studies for writers | Psalm 81

We all are just rebellious teenagers, really. If you’re a parent, you can relate to verse 8. If you’re not a parent, then you’re most likely a child of a parent, and you can relate to verse 8 just as easily.

“Listen to me, O my people, while I give you stern warnings. O Israel, if you would only listen to me!”

How many times have you said or heard that phrase in your lifetime??? Well, maybe not that exact phrase, but something like it anyway. And when you think about times you’ve either given stern warnings or received stern warnings, how did it go for you? Did you still love your child, or were you still loved by a parent? Now, put yourself in God’s shoes when he looks at all of us … rebellious teenagers.

Sum it up:

Lord, I need to praise you hard today.
I need to sing at the top of my lungs,
Blast some music
And lift my hands to You in praise
Because you are gracious,
Because you are merciful,
Because I have not listened to your stern warnings
A million times.
Yet, you still love me and rescue me
And show me how You manage that
In Your time.

Writing prompt: stern warning

Write about a time you either gave a stern warning and it was ignored or you received a stern warning and ignored it.
