Bible studies for writers | Psalm 111

“He causes us to remember his wonderful works. How gracious and merciful is our Lord!”

Did you find it peculiar that these two lines make up one verse? Like, they go hand-in-hand with each other. But what does us being able to remember things have to do with grace and mercy? Because we forget. That’s what. And this line says that God ALLOWS us to remember all His goodness, but it also says that when we don’t remember everything, He is forgiving about it. If you have forgotten something or have not followed through on something and are feeling a little guilty, let this psalm give you some peace today about the shortcomings we all experience.

Sum it up:

I am so thankful that I can be surrounded by people who love you, Lord.
How amazing it is to compare notes with them!
They totally get it! And they help me remember Your blessings
And your beautiful grace and mercy that goes with them.
Through others, God shows us His giving Spirit,
His nurturing hands, His promises fulfilled.
Through Jesus, He has sealed His promise to us.
All of us.
What an awesome thought!
