Students learn how to communicate with people from different cultural backgrounds in unreached people groups.
Students learn how to communicate with people from different cultural backgrounds in unreached people groups.

Our art and film schools are entering Week 5 with eight students from five nations. Students studied cross-cultural communications and ethno-arts together the first three weeks.

Film students then studied photography last week and are learning scriptwriting this week. Art students are studying beginning and advanced drawing.

Each student will take these skills to the field with them in less than eight weeks to create media resources for a specific unreached people group in SE Asia. Right now, we must keep this location under wraps due to persecution of the people in the area.

Jaynee and Justine are enjoying a few weeks of summer vacation. Plus, they have landed their first jobs!

They are babysitting for two families throughout the week. Besides caring for four children, they also have been putting their home economics skills to practice in the kitchen. I have barely cooked in a month!

They also bake cakes for staff birthdays, help out with the training schools when they can and enjoy afternoons of swimming, hanging out with friends and bike riding in the neighborhood.

We have found that summers in Thailand aren’t all that different than summers in Oklahoma!

I submitted my first initial vision of what I feel God wants to see in a journalism school I will lead in July 2015.

I felt God speaking to me about this school as soon as we came back to Thailand last spring. It’s been a year-long process of praying, seeking and listening to what God wants to see happen in this school. God’s vision is so much more beautiful than mine.

I poured my heart into my journalism career for 14 years. I feel truth in reporting is vital to informing the public from the field. When I went into missions, I was looking for an opportunity to share what I’ve learned during the last 17 years, to teach my heart to others and bring glory to God in the process.

I am blessed that God heard my cry, prepared the way for me and taught me from his heart along the way.

I feel God has put this school on my heart to make it my own ministry. Once the school begins, it will become my primary focus. I see this as a long-term mission that I will continue year after year.

Fundraising. Fundraising. Fundraising. It seems we are always fundraising!

We are studying the Biblical principles of fundraising for missions in a 12-week evening course. If you want to learn more about what we are learning, please send me a message at I’ll be glad to share some of our resources with you.

Now, we are challenged to put these principles into action!

Each of us has been challenged to be 100 percent funded in our daily ministry lives. We are about 67 percent there!

Rent – $380

Electric – $70

Water – $4

Internet – $20

Food – $300

Fuel/Transportation – $45

Insurance – $110

Homeschool – $35

Contributing to our monthly support is a great way to keep us on the field.

Please pray about a tithe of $10, $20 or $30 each month.

I feel a little like Sally Struthers when I say, “Less than $1 per day can make a difference.” But Sally had a good point!

If you would like to talk over Skype about specific financial needs and goals, please let me know. I would love to visit and share my vision!

We need $2,100 by September 22 for our upcoming trip to film in SE Asia. I am facing a bit of a dilemma. I’ll let God work out the details. I normally take my girls with me on all outreaches. This time, however, I am considering asking if they can stay with friends for the three weeks we will be gone. If this is the case, I need to raise $700 for myself to make the trip.

Sow seeds into our new journalism ministry. As leader of this school, my prayer is to train workers to report on unreached people groups from the field. We will go directly to people and send reports from the field in all areas of reporting. We will meet people who not only do not know Jesus but also, in many instances, have rarely experienced or modeled human decency. My heart is to expose darkness through truth in journalism.

“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.” – Ephesians 5:11-13 (NIV)

  • Pray for our upcoming film and art projects to reach the hearts of the people group God has laid upon our hearts.
  • Pray for safe travels to the persecuted area in which we will be filming.
  • Pray for our monthly needs to be 100 percent funded so we can focus more on our mission here in SE Asia.
  • Pray for funding for the journalism school so we can reach people on the field and share the truth about these areas with the nations.

Thank each of you for your prayers and support and for your love of those who do not know the hope of Jesus.

Many blessings to you and yours!

Korina, Jaynee, Justine
